El Buho

We got into town late for a graduation visit and found what seemed like the only place open late to eat - Katii. It's located right next to El Buho which ended up being the perfect combo! We got chicken pad thai, pad see ew, and avocado fries from Katii (food truck), and it was delicious! While we waited for our food, we grabbed a drink from the Buho bar. The drinks were really good and reasonably priced. It's definitely a going out vibe there and on the strip in general, but it was just what we needed after a long drive to San Antonio. Just be prepared to look for a parking spot for a while.

This is my favorite place to stop on St. Mary's; and I'm missing the church and tacos routine: Nic at the Con Safos food truck, accommodates gluten-sensitivity beautifully: Which is incredibly difficult to come by downtown-ish. This is the Pippian Chicken: It's flavorful, and has just the right amount of cheese. Normally, this comes in a hand-made tortilla; but with my gluten-intolerance, he lines it with cucumbers. The bar inside actually has Ginger Beer; and Mel is just as kind about serving non-alcoholic beverages, as the more complex orders.

Went to get food at the food truck. Drinks at the bar are good. Place is cute. Hated that my car got towed from the lot across the street on a Sunday at 10pm. My car and 3 other cars, all were supporting El Búho when we got towed. Pad Thai was good but definitely not worth the $300 I had to pay to get the car back. El Búho should make it more noticeable to its patrons about the situation at their nearest parking. We are not all locals, all 4 cars had no idea we had to scour the dark parking lot for a non illuminated post in a corner that holds about 4 signs in different colors and fonts advising -finally the last sign on the bottom- to download an app to pay for parking. None of the four cars towed were locals and none of us saw the sign. This was my first night in San Antonio, my car with all my luggage and belongings got towed from a lot that had plenty of space on a Sunday evening, cars were being towed in front of the bouncer's face and no one said anything. This bad experience made me never to return to El Búho or Mary Street at all the rest of my 10 day stay.

Great place to grab a quick bite and some amazing reasonably priced cocktails. The bartender Joe is awesome!! He was so quick to make us exactly what we wanted and his drink recommendations were spot on. Not often you get a bartender come check up on you to see if you enjoyed the drinks. Will definitely visit again just to chat with Joe and try some of his signature cocktails!!
